Computing
Through our computing curriculum at Ettington, we aim to equip all pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to engage with and embrace new technologies in ways that are safe, responsible, inclusive and meaningful. We recognise that every child is an individual, with their own strengths, experiences, needs and ways of learning, and we strive to ensure that our computing curriculum is accessible and supportive for everyone.
We want all pupils to become confident and increasingly independent users of computing technologies, developing their digital skills while experiencing a sense of enjoyment, curiosity and achievement. We use technology purposefully to enhance learning across the whole curriculum, providing opportunities for pupils to communicate, create, collaborate and express themselves in different ways.
Alongside developing digital literacy and the ability to use technology effectively, our computer science curriculum encourages pupils to be creative, resilient and curious problem-solvers. Through practical experiences, we support children to develop computational thinking, critical thinking and the confidence to learn from mistakes and persevere with challenges.
We aim to provide a broad, rich and inclusive range of experiences that enable every pupil to recognise their own potential and develop an understanding of themselves as valued individuals within their school and wider community.
At the same time, we encourage pupils to appreciate different perspectives, cultures and experiences, helping them to understand their place within a diverse global community and to become respectful, responsible and empowered digital citizens.
